Black Ash Basket Workshops (July, October & December 2004)

The White Earth Land Recovery Project workes to empower people of all ages in our region, and to develop their skills and talents. Our culture is rich with amazing arts such as beadwork, quillwork, black ash baskets, painting, woodcarving, birch bark crafts, pottery, quilting and much more.

Community members gathered to create a Star quilt on the Gammill Quilting machine.

The ability to communicate through a variety of means, the development of team work, the use of creative approaches to problem solving and use of the imagination are just some competencies learned in art. Each year, our Education Program offers a number of art workshops to youth, families and community members.

Black Ash Basket Workshops

In 2004, the White Earth Land Recovery Project hosted three (3) Black Ash Basket workshops with Clyde Estey, Jr as the instructor. Each workshop was very well received with ten participants for each. These small workshops provide the participant with more one-on-one assistance from the instructor.
